Nintendo Wii the latest console from the Nintendo franchise, is no doubt a cool, modern console. It's less expensive than the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360, making it a valuable option for those on a tight budget. Its name (pronounced "we") is intended to unify gamers, whether they are seasoned gamers or completely new to the gaming experience. The spelling is intended to show the modern capabilities and innovation of the system. We compiled information regarding the benefits and flaws of the console to help you decide if Nintendo Wii is the console you've been waiting for. 

 

Pros

  • At around £150, the Nintendo Wii is one of the least expensive new consoles on the market.
  • Its WiFi capabilities and Opera browser allows you to explore the Internet right from the console. Want to watch Youtube on the Wii? Not a problem.
  • Comes packaged with Wii Sports which is better than the demo games that most systems come with.
  • The innovative Wii remote  redefines the gaming experience. It is motion sensitive and uses wireless Blue-Tooth technology to provide a new, wireless option. It also has built-in speakers! Can't get the hang of the Wii

  • The aesthetic design of the console is sleek and it comes with a stand so the console can be situated vertically to save space. 
  • It is fully compatible with GameCube games The online store even allows you to download some classic games (for Nintendo 64, NES, etc) for a small price.
  • Though it only has about a half gig of internal flash memory, you can save your work on a SD memory card  that you purchase separately.
  • The unit runs quietly, uses less power than most systems, and keeps cool. 
  • Its wireless Internet capabilities allows you to receive updates and game information.
  • The controller is intuitive enough for first time gamers to understand fairly quickly.

  • The ports for controllers and other accessories are located at the top of the unit for easy access.

Cons

  • The internal flash memory is only about a half a gig, which is nothing compared to the internal memory of Xbox 360 and PS3. As stated before, there are SD memory cards that can be purchased to allow you to save more games and progress. 
  • The graphics are not as good as the graphics on Xbox 360 and PS3. Don't expect to see any incredible graphics here.
  • This console is intended to bring back video games to the masses, so seasoned gamers may be a bit frustrated by the lack of graphics and sometimes overly simply and cartoon-like features.
  • The games are not going to have the same impressive graphics as those made for the PS3 or Xbox 360. Wii games are being built on 12-centimeter optical discs that don't have the same storage capabilities as Blu-Ray discs and HD discs.
