Outdoor Christmas Lights Buying Guide
Whether you love 'em or hate 'em, Christmas lights

Before you put up one string of lights
Get out the measuring tape

- Be sure to add on a few extra feet in length for the pitch of the roof
.
- Outdoor trees
and bushes
are typically about 50 lights per foot of height.
- Strings of lights
come in packs from 25 lights to 200, so break out your extension cords
and buy accordingly.
- Look for strings that can be plugged
into one another.
- Plan to use shorter strands of lights
. If one light bulb
burns out, it will be much easier to replace a shorter strand.
- Think about what colours
and schemes you will use. Brights or whites? Flashy or subdued? Will you include any lawn decorations?
- Consider placing your Christmas lights
on a timer if possible.
