Pantry and Cabinet Organisation

If a clean home is a happy home, a fantastically-organised home must then be the domestic equivalent of Disneyland.  However, we here at ShopWiki know that dealing with the mess lurking in your pantry and cabinets is no small feat (oh, how we know!), so we've compiled a list of necessities to help you on your way to the happiest place on Earth.

Helpful Hints

  • Purge!: The first step is to go through everything you've neglected these past few months (years).  There are bound to be items in your pantry that have not seen the light of day for quite a long time, and you'll have to make the decision whether to keep it, donate it, or chuck it in the rubbish.  Remember, the more you get rid of, the easier it will be to reorganise.
  • Keep like items together: If you're sorting out food items, keep the canned veggies separate from your pasta boxes, the crisps from the soups, and so on.
  • Assess your storage area: Organising a pantry or cabinet with space constraints is much different that dealing with a spacious area.  You might also find it is helpful to buy cabinet organisers  as you essentially give yourself more shelving space.
  • Keep it up!: Once the big job is done, upkeep is quite simple.  Don't let yourself fall back into sloppy habits!
