Soap Flakes

This humble little product has a long history of usefulness.  Soapmaking  has existed in England since around 1200 and soap is vital to keeping us all clean and smelling nice, but soap flakes  in particular have a number of uses, ranging from doing washing to making craft projects.

Uses for soap flakes

Washing delicate fabrics

Soap flakes are one of the gentlest ways to wash linens, lingerie, wool, cashmere and other delicate fabrics.  As soap flakes are simply pure soap in flake form they are biodegradable, non-perfumed, and contain no chemicals: perfect for sensitive skin (and sensitive clothing).

Cleaning

Soap flakes can be used to clean almost anything: ceramics, children's toys, marble, carpets, wood and metal musical instruments, furniture...the list goes on.  They are even a safe way to shampoo pets.  To make soap flakes more powerful as a cleaner without using chemicals, add other natural ingredients such as vinegar borax  or baking soda

Craft Projects

There are numerous craft projects  that use soap flakes as a base, from soap flake snowmen to finger-painting to making your own beautiful soaps. Not only are soap flakes quite affordable, but you needn't worry about any toxins.
