Wedding Shoes Buying Guide

Contents[Hide]

Before you tackle the projects of picking out wedding jewellery  or hair styles , first you will want to think about shoes .  Use this special day as a time to splurge a little bit and go for those Manolo Blahniks , or be practical and sport flip flops  on the dance floor for the ultimate comfort.  Either way, choose a pair that reflect your personality and will keep you going until the very last dance !

Once you have chosen your favourite pair, make sure to bring them along to your dress  fittings, as the height of the shoe will dramatically alter the appearance of the dress.  With only a few guidelines to keep in mind, finding the best pair should be easy and simple, two words that are rarely found in the process of wedding planning .

Things to Consider

  • Sizing
    • Dress shoes  typically fit the same way as street shoes  do, which means you will already know your size and can even look to buy a few pairs on-line.
    • If you are ordering a special pair made in another country, you may want to check out our Women's Sizing Chart to determine size conversions.
  • Heel Height
    • Please stick to a height that you are used to, as now is NOT the time to start wearing stilettos  if you never have before.
    • You will also want your shoes to be comfortable to wear, whether you are walking down the aisle, sitting down for dinner, or dancing the night away.
    • If you already have your dress, think about its length.  Gowns that sweep the floor  may want to get a bit of a lift.  Shorter dresses  will want to consider taller heels  also to lengthen legs!
    • You should also not be afraid to wear flats  or sandals  if that's your style!  You can find very cute ballet flats ,thong sandals , and even wedding trainers  if they make you happy.
    • You will also want to take into consideration the height of your future spouse; don't go for heels that are too tall!  Keep your style fun, flirty, and most of all reflective of you.
  • Style:
    • Think about your dress.  If it is longer , chances are your feet won't really be seen; but with shorter dresses  becoming more popular, your feet will be cast into the limelight and you will want to be wearing a cute pair of shoes.  In cases such as this, style is important and you will want the shoe style to not only complement your dress, but your personality as well.
    • If you are a traditional kind of person, look to match your dress to shoes of the same fabric and style.  If you feel like being fun and creative, try playing with colours or fabrics that offer a contrast to your dress.  Wearing baby blue shoes  will help you find your "something blue" and we have seen brides wearing pink dresses  and shocking red flats  for fun.  Whatever works for you is what we'll recommend.
    • You will also want to keep in mind the formality of your wedding.  If you are going black tie and expecting guests to dress to the nines for your wedding, then maybe wearing flip flops  isn't the best idea.  Dress appropriately for the occasion.
  • Cost:
    • The truth is that you can't walk down the aisle without the proper pair of shoes.  Think about what your wedding budget  can afford.  If spending £300 on a pair is what you think works best, then by all means go for it.  For brides on a tighter budget, there are wedding shoes everywhere; look to discount stores for great styles at affordable prices.
