Features to Consider
Consider these features when purchasing a digital photo frame:
- Resolution
- The lowest recommended screen resolution is 640X480.
- Choosing a frame with a lower resolution than this will significantly reduce the image quality.
- Aspect Ratio
- Most frames come in 4:3 (default photo size on most digital cameras) or 16:9 (wide-angle or panoramic photos)
- Putting a 4:3 image in a 16:9 frame will result in parts of the image being cropped or stretched to fit the larger frame size.
- Memory & Image Transfer
- Most frames allow you to put your camera's memory card directly into the frame or attach some type of removable storage device (USB drive, memory stick).
- Other frames have internal storage that can hold a certain amount of photos on the frame.
- Some
frames have wi-fi syncing capabilities so you can sync photos from your computer to the frame using supplied software.
- Most frames support digital images directly from your camera as well as JPG and other image formats, while others do not.
- Check the frame's format compatibility before assuming you can use JPG pictures from your computer.
- Extra Features
- Functionality-
- Is it important to you to have access to the frame's controls via a remote control, physical buttons located on the frame, or the frame's settings accessible via touchscreen?
- Some frames come with a built-in calendar, alarm clock, and reminders.
- Power-
- Do you favour an internal battery that needs to be changed periodically or a corded power supply?
