Winter Clothes for Kids Guide

Brrrrrr... baby, it's cold outside!  Though we might feel the bitter bite of winter down to our bones, kids would play outside every day if they had the option.  So it's up to the grown-ups to make sure that the little ones are bundled up in their warmest winter clothes  and protected from the elements when they head outdoors.

Cold Weather Accessories

Staying warm means covering up as much as you can, so make sure your child has all the accessories they need before the the temperature gets too low. Hats, gloves, and scarves have a way of getting lost, and kids will outgrow them faster than you realise, so most kids will need replacements every winter.

Hats

Keeping the head warm is so important! Kids' winter hats can be found in warm options like cotton  bobble hats, fleece-lined  hats, and wool  knit caps.

Scarves

An essential layer of warmth to prevent the little ones from catching cold, a scarf  is a wonderful way to keep toasty. You can also try neck warmer for children .

Boots

Keep those tiny feet warm and cosy, with popular brands like Uggs  and Timberland . Look for warm lining and waterproofing , to keep feet warm and dry in slushy winter weather.

Gloves

Once again fleece  or cotton  offer sound insulation and comfort. Also look for water resistant snow gloves , for playing in the snow without wet hands. For ease in putting them on, try mittens !

Cosy Outerwear

Coats and warm jackets are must-haves for all age groups, but kids will really need them to stay warm. Encourage your children to dress in layers that they can remove or put on as needed. Make sure you get a good fit; kids can grow into their coats and snow suits, but they'll be warmer with a proper fit that's not too loose or too constricting.

Gilets

On cold or mixed-weather days, wrap your child in layers. A warm lined gilet  will help keep your child warm in the winter wind and wetness, underneath their coat, or on it's own!

Winter Coats

An insulated jacket  is a very smart move for the bitter winter months.  Pea coats  are a dressy  option that can also be worn casually.

Padded Jackets

It doesn't get much warmer than a padded parka !  Whether filled with down or insulated otherwise, The North Face  and Columbia  offer a range of children's padded coats.

Snow suits

For babies and children, an all-in-one snow suit  is ideal for winter sports  and activities. They're best suited for young children; older kids might not be interested in a ski suit for casual winter wear.

Warm Winter Clothing

Of course, a coat and a scarf are not enough to keep your child warm all day long. They need a warm winter wardrobe, with comfortable basics like jumpers and thermals that will keep them toasty warm when they're stuck inside.

Polo Necks

Covering the neck up, a polo neck sweater  is a winter essential, especially for kids who are prone to losing their scarves.

Snow Pants

Snow pants are waterproof  and insulted for the ultimate outdoor warmth.  Bib-type snow pants  are available as well.

Jumpers

A jumper  is a winter must. Cardigan jumpers , and pullovers  can be found in a variety of materials like wool ,cashmere , and cotton .

Thermal Underwear

For the extra protection against the cold, start layering. Thermal layers lets kids wear what they want while staying warm underneath.
