Give yourself the peace of mind that you deserve on your big day by purchasing wedding insurance
Why Get Wedding Insurance?
There are a number of reasons to take out a wedding insurance plan
- Destination Weddings: If you are marrying abroad, you will absolutely want to have insurance.
- Imagine you arrive at your destination, but your luggage doesn't; this means no wedding gown, no shoes, no favours, no tux. Nothing.
- In Caribbean destinations, hurricanes and disasters can strike at any time. If you and your guests are unable to fly into the destination, then clearly there is no wedding. If a hurricane has just past, keep in mind that your reception site may not look glamorous and beautiful as it did a few months ago.
- Vendors: We cannot always predict the future, so it is best to have insurance just in case anything happens to any of your vendors.
- If your photographer or DJ suddenly comes down with the flu, there is no way they can make it to your wedding. You may be left scrambling and paying double the price to find someone last-minute.
- Sometimes wedding photos may not come out at all, leaving everyone disappointed. You will certainly want to be able to get your money back.
- There have been cases where the hired officiant forgets to show up at the wedding. Yikes!
- Mishaps and Misfortunes: The bride and groom may find that sickness can occur at the worst of times.
- We cannot predict the future. It would be terribly unfortunate to lose a beloved family member right before the wedding, and this heartache may cause you to have to reschedule.
- Imagine the groom coming down with appendicitis. There is no way to speed up this recovery and this drastically alters the wedding plans.
- Brides or grooms serving in the military can be called onto duty suddenly, putting all of the wedding reservations into jeopardy.
What Does It Cover?
If for some reason something occurs which prevents or postpones you from having your wedding as planned, wedding insurance covers you financially to make up for any monetary loss (up to a certain extent depending on the amount of coverage you purchase).
- The Basics: Bad weather, illness, or vendors that fail to show are all covered by basic wedding insurance
.
- This is not to say that a little rain cloud, a cold, or a mix-up with the caterer calls for the insurance to kick in. The circumstances must be such that they call for the wedding to be cancelled or moved to a later date.
- The Extras: Often, insurance covers more than just the basics. It will protect you from stolen, lost or damaged goods including gifts, attire, rental equipment, and ruined photographs.
- Liability: Liability insurance
will cover damage to a reception site or hospital bills for someone who may get injured at the wedding... but this will cost you extra.
- Cold Feet: What insurance won't cover is cold feet or the decision to cancel your wedding due to relationship problems or differences.

When Should I Buy It?
As soon as you begin to put down deposits, you become financially responsible. We recommend purchasing wedding insurance as soon as you begin your planning.
